RUSHVILLE — Anderson resident Wilford Ray Roseberry, 67, escaped serious injuries early Friday when his truck struck a billboard in Rush County.

A 911 cell phone call shortly before 7 a.m. Friday to the Rush County Sheriff’s Department dispatch center reported that a vehicle entering Rushville had just left the road and entered a side ditch near the intersection of U.S. 52 and Indiana 3.

Responders located a 2008 Chevrolet pickup that had come to rest after striking a billboard on the south side of the Flatrock River, trapping Roseberry in the vehicle. Firefighters had to break the passenger side window of the vehicle to gain access to free him. Police said the force of the impact caused extensive damage to the Chevrolet pickup truck and the billboard.

Roseberry was treated at Rush Memorial Hospital and was released a short time later.
