Burst water main causes downtown Kokomo troubles

— KOMOMO, Ind. (AP) — A burst water main caused some downtown Kokomo streets to be blocked off and numerous businesses and offices to be warned about the safety of their drinking water.
Indiana American Water crews worked overnight to repair the 12-inch line and did not immediately know what caused Monday’s break.
The company issued a warning for much of the downtown area, advising that tap water not be used for drinking or cooking unless it has been boiled for five minutes. The warning area included the Kokomo City Hall and the Howard County Courthouse.
The water troubles led the City Council to call off its Monday night meeting.
