7:45 a.m.: Deer crashes window at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A veterinarian says a deer that crashed through a window into a Purdue University classroom building wasn’t seriously injured.

The small male deer appeared to have fallen into a window well above a hallway connecting Lilly Hall with the Life Science Plants and Soils Laboratory.

Anesthesiologists from Purdue’s Large Animal Hospital came to scene and tranquilized the deer Monday morning.

Dr. Michele Barletta said the buck had cuts to the face and leg but no apparent broken bones. Animal control officers took the deer and planned to release it away from the West Lafayette campus.
