11:40 a.m.: Case continued in school plot

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Prosecutors will wait until at least next month to decide whether to seek adult charges against a South Bend teenager accused of planning a Columbine-style attack on his high school.

A magistrate on Friday agreed to a request by the boy’s attorney and the deputy prosecutor to continue the case until next month so psychological tests can be completed on whether he is a risk to himself or society.

The boy is charged with a juvenile count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Authorities at northern Indiana’s Penn High School say the teen had exchanged e-mails with an Ohio man in which they discussed mass murders at the same time at the teen’s school and at another location.
