UPLAND — The $27 million estate of a longtime central Indiana banker will be divided among Indiana Wesleyan University, Taylor University and several other organizations.
The bequest is from Star Financial Bank founder Arthur Hodson who died in July 2007 at the age of 94.
Indiana Wesleyan spokesman Alan Miller says he believes it will be the largest single gift ever by an individual to both Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor universities. The exact amounts of the donations will be announced on Wednesday.
Hodson was actively involved with both private schools in the Marion area. He attended Taylor University in Upland for two years in the early 1930s before transferring to Purdue University.
Hodson died without any children and also left money to White’s Residential and Family Services, a child and family services agency in Wabash County.
