ALEXANDRIA — Lapel’s volleyball team pushed Class 2A No. 8 Alexandria to five games before falling to the highly-touted Tigers on Monday night.
The Bulldogs won the first game, 25-21, but Alexandria bounced back to win the next two by identical 25-15 scores. Lapel rose up again to take the fourth game, 25-20, before falling in the finale by a 15-6 count.
Sarah Alvarez had 32 digs and Rachel Tarlton added 15 to spark the Bulldogs defensively. Leigh Murphy contributed 15 digs and two aces.
Up front for Lapel, Liz Jennings had 10 kills and five blocks to go with her 25 digs. Stephanie Miller chipped in with seven kills and three blocks while Lauren Turner had seven kills and Sarah Montgomery eight. Lilly Barker set up the hitters with 26 assists.
Lapel is 15-13 on the season and will host Shenandoah tonight for the White River Athletic Conference championship.

Freshman Megan Criswell had seven kills and 18 digs for the Arabians, who fell, 25-16, 25-17, 25-14.
Mackenzie Beisser had eight kills, Halee Myers added 12 digs and Becca Hales 10. Both Myers and Hales had an ace. The Arabians fell to 13-19.
Randolph Southern 3, Daleville 0
Miranda Hensel did a bit of everything for the Broncos, but they still came up short, 25-23, 25-14, 21-25, 25-19.
Hensel had four kills, two aces, seven digs, 31 assists and two blocks. Kristen Waechter had 13 kills and Dawn Dodd added 10. Daleville is 10-12 on the season.
