Pendleton Heights graduate Kody LeMond is making a huge impact on the Wabash College football team in his sophomore season as wide receiver.

LeMond is easily the leading target for Little Giants quarterback Matt Hudson. Hudson has thrown 16 TD passes going into this weekend’s game, and LeMond has caught nine of them.

The PH product has caught 31 passes in four games and is averaging 19.3 yards per reception. Through those four contests, he is just a single yard under 600 for the season.

LeMond’s 54 points easily leads the team in that category. Closest to him is running back Bobby Kimp with 24 points.

Wabash is 4-0 and is outscoring the opposition 193-54, including 34-0 in the first quarter.

After recording 26 digs last weekend, Liberty Christian High School graduate Ashlee Zeigler surpassed the 1,500-dig mark for her career. Her current total of 1,519 digs moved her into the 10th spot all-time at Taylor University. Zeigler ranks third at Taylor in digs with 3.7 per game for her career.

In a win Tuesday over NAIA No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan, Ashlee recorded eight digs, improving her total to 1,528. Ashlee needs just 63 digs to claim the ninth spot in all-time digs.

The victory gives Taylor its second win over a top 25 opponent this season. Taylor’s overall record is 18-6.

Lapel grad Molly Fields tied for sixth for Butler University on Tuesday at the Butler Fall Invitational Golf Tournament.

Fields had matching rounds of 77 each day. The Bulldogs won the team event with a score of 613 compared to 624 for Eastern Illinois.

For the second straight year, Butler forward Susan Lester has been named to a spot on the preseason All-Horizon League basketball second team.

The Pendleton Heights product finished last season as the league’s second-best rebounder at 7.3 boards per game. She was ranked in the top 10 in 3-pointers made and 3-point percentage. Last year, she had 668 points and 418 rebounds. She has had 18 double-doubles in her two seasons.

The Bulldogs open the 2008-09 season at Ohio State on Nov. 14.

Brock Hagerman, a junior at the University of New Mexico, finished 48th last Friday in his return to South Bend.

Hagerman, a PH graduate, competed for Notre Dame his freshman year. He had a time of 24:34 to represent the New Mexico men’s cross country team, which is ranked No. 29 nationally. The Lobos were eighth at Notre Dame.
