Saturday area roundup: Raiders volleyball wins Henry Co. tourney

The Frankton doubles team of Jon Gardner and John Whitcomb won its sectional match Friday to advance to the next round, scheduled for next Saturday.

Gardner and Whitcomb polished off the Muncie Burris duo of Dave Morgan and Francis Muhiga 6-3, 6-2 to run their record to 21-2 on the season. They will play next at Carmel High School at 10 a.m. Saturday against a doubles team out of the West Lafayette Sectional.

The Eagles’ unbeaten No. 1 singles player, Alex Poe, is still waiting for an opponent. He will play Saturday at Park Tudor against an advancing singles player from the West Lafayette Sectional.

Mudd notches ace at Edgewood

Byron Mudd recorded a hole-in-one on No. 16, a 145-yard hole at Edgewood Golf Course with a 9 iron on Sept. 6 in the Lewellen Memorial tournament.
