Saturday's Area Roundup: Frankton tennis wins at Richmond

Frankton wins Richmond Invitational
RICHMOND — The Eagles tied for first place with Marion and Connersville with 32 points each. Frankton won the tournament via a tiebreaker by winning two of the finals matches. Frankton’s Alex Poe won the final at No. 1 singles, and Jon Gardner and John Whitcomb won at No. 1 doubles.
On the day, Poe went 3-0 in singles competition. Gardner and Whitcomb were also 3-0 in the doubles portion of the tournament.
Frankton (6-3) hosts Hamilton Heights, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Boys Soccer
Arabians split at Miller Classic
Pendleton Heights defeated West Lafayette in the day’s first game 2-1 but fell to the host Noblesville Millers 5-0 in the championship game.
Trey Merryman and Josh Petry scored the goals for the Arabians in their win over West Lafayette. Josh Wilson recorded one of the assists. Goalkeeper Gage Martin had five saves for Pendleton Heights.
In the final, Martin recorded eight saves as the Millers out shot the Arabians 16-1.
Pendleton Heights (6-2-1) travels to Brownsburg on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. varsity start.
