Hockett cruises past Greentown

ANDERSON — The Anderson Hockett American Legion Post 127 baseball team defeated Greentown 12-2 in eight innings Tuesday evening at Memorial Field.

Elwood grad Darren Jones picked up the win for Hockett pitching seven innings while giving up six hits and striking out three Greentown batters. Fellow Panthers alumnus Troy Worsley came on to finish the game in the eighth, giving up no hits while recording a strikeout.

Former Highlander Joey Hart was 3-for-3 at the plate with a two-run home run in the fourth inning for the home team. Fellow former Scot, Brady Roundtree was also 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, to go with a triple and a double.

Liberty Christian graduate Tim Zeigler was another who went 3-for-3 for Hockett; he also scored one run.

Jones went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Wills was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Lapel’s Devon Silvey, Anderson’s Zach Gooding and Daleville’s Zach Tumulty were each 1-for-3 at the plate. Silvey had two RBIs, Gooding drove in one run and Tumulty scored once.

Hockett (16-5) hosts Muncie at Memorial Field at 7 p.m. Friday.
