Recent Daleville High School graduate Nathaniel Carroll will attend the College of Mount St. Joseph and play basketball this season for the Lions, according to a release sent by the school.

Carroll, a 6-foot-4 guard/forward, received nine varsity letters between track, cross country, baseball and basketball while in high school. Carroll was a four-year starter and senior captain in basketball. He is the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,442 points, and holds school records for 3-pointers in a game and career free-throw percentage. In addition, he holds school records for single season free-throw percentage (87 percent), steals in a game (10), steals in a career (179), and 3-pointers in a career (201). During his senior season, he averaged 24.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.74 steals and connected on 87 percent of his free-throw attempts. He was voted MVP the past two years while leading his team to its first sectional title in 23 years. He won the Delaware County scoring title and Delaware County 3-point title as a junior and averaged 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 85.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The past three seasons, he was named First Team All-Mid-Eastern Conference and First Team All-Delaware County. As a senior, he became one of only five players in Daleville history to score 1,000 points, was named First Team East Central Indiana, was an Indiana top 10 leading scorer, selected to Indiana’s Post Your All-Star team, named an Indiana top 100 player, and chosen to be an Indiana State High Honorable Mention All-Star Team.

Carroll was also on his school’s Honor Roll. He played for Coach Corey Scott at Daleville. Nathaniel, the son of Ed and Trish Carroll, is planning on majoring in business administration.

The Lions play in the NCAA Division III Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the same conference as Anderson University.

Windlan wins at area IGF event

YORKTOWN — Anderson resident Kennedy Windlan won the 13-14-year-old girls age group at the Indiana Golf Foundation/Mountain Dew Tour event with a score of 79 at The Players Club on Tuesday.

Katie Windlan, Anderson, finished second in the girls 17-19 age division with an 83.

In boys competition, three area golfers finsihed in the top 10 in the boys 13-14 bracket.

Colin Proctor, Anderson, was second wirth a score of 77. Zach Phillips, Pendleton, was third with a 78. Tanner Watkins, Pendleton, was sixth after shooting an 85.

Zack Campbell, Anderson, ended the day in 15th, shooting a 98.

In the boys 15-16 division, Jake Groninger, Pendleton, was second following a round of 76. John Hetttinga, Anderson, was 30th with a 94.

Mason Lloyd, Lapel, was 11th in the boys 17-19 pairings. Lloyd finished with a score of 88.
