By Adam Wire
FIRST TEAM
Alex Stinson, Liberty Christian
The junior defended his Madison County individual title and led all area golfers with a runner-up individual finish at the Muncie Central Regional, qualifying him for the state meet for the first time. His 18-hole average was 72. His 73 in the state meet’s first round left him two strokes shy of qualifying for the second day.
Brodie Williams, Lapel
The junior defeated Stinson at the Noblesville Sectional with a third-place overall finish. He was fifth at the Muncie Central Regional and qualified for the state meet for the first time. He also was the White River Athletic Conference medalist and was All-County, and his 18-hole average was 74. He set school records for lowest nine- (32) and 18-hole round (68).
Jake Groninger, Pendleton Heights
The lone freshman to make the All-Area first or second teams, Groninger forced a playoff with eventual state runner-up Chase Wright of Delta in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet. His 18-hole average was 78, and he was the medalist in half of the Arabians’ dual matches.
Austin Stagman, Highland
The junior was an Olympic Conference medalist and helped the Scots win the county title. His 18-hole average was 78. Coach Jim Wright said Stagman was Highland’s No. 1 golfer all season, and has had the Scots’ best average for three straight seasons.
Mason Lloyd, Lapel
The junior joined Williams as the Bulldogs’ only All-County and All-WRAC performers, finishing fifth in the county meet. His 18-hole average was just below 82, and he helped the Bulldogs to a 14-2-1 dual meet record.
