GAS CITY — The Madison-Grant softball team defeated Mississinewa 1-0 in eight innings Friday to finish the season with a 6-1 record in the Central Indiana Conference, earning its share of a three-way split of the league title with Alexandria and Frankton.

Dana Runyan, who was 2-for-3 batting on the day, led off the top of the eighth with a double. She was lifted for pinch runner Christine DuPouy.

Keisha Head then laced the game-winning RBI single to right field for her only hit of the game, to score DuPouy with the game winning RBI single to right field.

Kendra Stitt and Sam Yeagy were each 1-for-3 at the bat for Madison-Grant.

The Argyll’s Sara Webster pitched all eight innings to up her record to 15-2 on the season. The MG junior yielded only two hits in the win while retiring 13 Indian batters on strikes.

The Argylls, who end the regular season at 21-3 overall, will open sectional play at 6 p.m. Monday at Eastern High School.

They’ll take on the host Eastern Comets in the first round of tournament play.

Shenandoah 5, Wes-Del 0

MIDDLETOWN — Yardley Collett and Mary Spiker each had a double for the host Raiders as they defeated their White River Athletic Conference rivals.

Collett pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and no walks as Shenandoah improved its league mark to 5-1.

The Raiders (12-12) will travel to Lapel today for a key WRAC doubleheader.

Eastern (Greentown) 2, Elwood 0 (9 innings)

The visiting Comets got a 2-run homer in the top of the ninth to down the host Panthers (7-14).
