From Staff Reports
Alexandria’s girls tennis team claimed at least a share of the Central Indiana Conference title Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over Madison-Grant.
The win gives the Tigers a 4-0 league mark. They can secure the title outright tonight with a victory in their home match against Elwood.
“This also ties a record of five straight (CIC titles) with the boys’ basketball team, which did it in the late ’90s,” said Alexandria coach Matt DeVault.
Alexandria didn’t lose a single game in three of its matches — Melissa Montgomery at No. 1 singles, Abbe Cox at No. 2 singles as well as the No. 2 doubles team of Bri Foster and Megan Wright.
Alexandria has an overall season mark of 14-4. The Tigers lost to Warren Central 5-0 on Monday.

The Arabians used team depth to very nearly pull off a Hoosier Heritage Conference title.
PH’s Ellie McCardwell had the team’s only first-place finish, and it was a whopper. She cleared 12 feet in the pole vault to set a meet record.
The Arabians also had a trio of runner-ups. Catrina Langley, Kat Cler, Hannah Douglas and Autumn Brown teamed for second in the 1,600-meter relay. Katie Kritzer was second in the 100 hurdles, and Langley was second in the 300 hurdles.
PH (22-7) had 101 points in the meet, second only to New Palestine’s total of 107.
