MUNCIE — Highland’s Kolin Jarrett tied the game with a seventh-inning double and Chandler Sidwell put the Scots baseball team ahead for good in the eighth in a 6-2 Olympic Conference victory over Muncie South Tuesday.
Bronson Doggett was the winning pitcher, allowing just five hits and striking out eight. Jake Millikan and Taylor Hopkins each had two hits, including a double. Hopkins knocked in two runs.
The two teams will play a rematch at Highland today. Highland is 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
New Castle 7, Anderson 4
Two AHS pitchers combined to give up just six hits, but walks hampered the Indians’ chances in this North Central Conference clash.
Anderson led 4-2 after the top half of the fourth inning in this road contest, but couldn’t hold that lead and was unable to score any more. The Indians are 8-5 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Oak Hill 5, Frankton 3
Nate Cress stuck out nine Oak Hill hitters in six innings and teammate Brandon France had two hits including a solo home run in the first inning.
But the Eagles fell to 6-7 and 0-3 in the Central Indiana Conference with the loss.
Madison-Grant 11, Alexandria 1
The Argylls had a quartet of players with two hits apiece to power the five-inning win over the Tigers.
Andrew Wilson, Nate Hiatt, Andrew Stroup and Jacob Morrical each had two hits. Hiatt drove in three runs while Wilson and Stroup plated two each.
