Senior Erin Falkenberry closed the book on a 15-inning softball marathon on Thursday for Class 4A No. 9 Pendleton Heights, driving in Shonda Garringer for a 3-2 victory over visiting Noblesville.
The victory improved the Arabians to 14-3 entering today’s home date against Hamilton Southeastern.
Overall, Pendleton Heights recorded eight hits. Handling pitching chores for the Arabians were Lindsey Beisser and Lainie Dishroon.
Elwood 10, Liberty Christian 5
The host Panthers pounded out 12 hits with Kayla Rider’s three leading the way. Brittney McPhearson, Kelsey Whitson and Kristen Hibst had two apiece for Elwood, while Paige Hanlin’s lone hit produced a run.
For Liberty Christian, Karon Earley came through with two hits, as did Taylor Ellis and Kate Driskell.
Madison-Grant 6, Oak Hill 1
A three-run first inning set the tone for the host Argylls (11-3), who were led by pitcher Sara Webster’s two-hitter.
Offensively, Madison-Grant received two hits apiece from Kendra Stitt and Keisha Head, while Bonnie Parker nailed a two-run homer.
Sheridan 5, Lapel 4
The host Bulldogs rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but fell short against the Blackhawks.
Katelynn Ash’s two hits for Lapel (2-9) were a double and triple. Stephanie Murphy also provided two hits and Kourtney Allender belted a triple for two runs scored.
