Liberty Christian’s Alex Stinson took individual medalist honors and Highland boys golf team won team honors Tuesday in a triangular meet at Killbuck Golf Course.
Stinson, one of the area’s top golfers, carded a 38 for medalist honors. That was three shots better than the 41 shot by Highland’s Zach Bailey, the Scots’ top score.
Strong, balanced scoring by Highland led the team to a total of 171, five strokes better than second place Elwood with a 176. Liberty Christian finished the nine holes with a team total of 197.
Highland got 43s from Trey Knight and Andrew Hanna, a 44 from Austin Stagman and a 46 from Chris Thompson.
Elwood’s Michael Melvin and Brian Bush each shot a 41 as the best Panthers score.
Highland now has a 4-1 record, Elwood is 4-2 and the Lions are still looking for a win after four matches.
Monroe Central 162, Richmond 168, New Castle 172, Anderson 179
Spencer Morris carded a 39 for Anderson to lead the Indians but the team had only two other golfers break 50 (Chase Austin 44, Patrick Freeman 46).
Richmond’s Rajan Bawa carded a 37 for medalist honors.
The Tribe remain winless after their first six matches this season.
Frankton 158, Sheridan 168
The Eagles rode a pair of 3-over-par medalist 36s from Ryan Spangler and Chris Nelson to a 10-stroke victory at Grandview Golf Course.
Frankton evens its record at 2-2.
