The Frankton softball team, ranked fifth in the state in Class 2A, used a single by Allison Parr in the bottom of the 10th inning to score an exciting 3-2 victory over Shenandoah on Thursday.
Equally as important for Frankton was Felicia Roudebush’s home run in the eighth inning that extended the game.
For Shenandoah (2-5), Yardley Collett and Stacy Kinnett each managed three base hits.
Anderson 9, Lapel 3
Chrissy Stephens went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the host Indians past the Bulldogs. Jordan Herrington, Erica Couch and Alecia Wilson had two hits apiece for Anderson (3-4). For Lapel (1-6), Katelyn Ash was 2-for-3 with a double.
Daleville 15, Randolph Southern 1
The Broncos scored 10 runs through the first three innings to win easily. All together, Daleville (1-5) generated 17 hits in six frames, led by Karisten Church’s four hits. Whitney Kurtz finished with three hits and as many RBIs for Daleville, while Kelsey Beatty was 2-for-2 at the plate.
Alexandria 15, Elwood 2
Kylie Bischof came through with four base hits and Erin England and Adrienne DiRuzza each had three for the victorious Tigers (7-5).
Eastern Hancock 8, Liberty Christian 4
The visiting Lions came up short against Eastern Hancock despite a 13-strikeout performance by pitcher Karon Earley and doubles from Kylie Nuce and Kate Driskell.

GIRLS TENNIS
Highland 5, Shenandoah 0
The Scots ran their record to a spotless 8-0 by shutting out the Raiders. Singles winners for Highland were Alex Hammel, Mercy Scott and Alaina Coplin, while the doubles’ tandems of Kelsey McFadden and Ashlan Allison and Emily Jones and Abby Beard also prevailed.
Delta 4, Mount Vernon 1
The Marauders dropped their first match of the season, losing 4-1 to the 15th-ranked Eagles. Annie Lorenzano recorded Mount Vernon’s lone victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles.
Alexandria 5, Tipton 0
The Tigers are now 6-1 with their win over the Blue Devils. Melissa Montgomery, Abbe Cox and Alicia Pratt won singles matches for the Tigers. Rachael Sayre and Hannah Davis won a doubles match, as did with Rebecca Payton and Megan Wright.

GIRLS TRACK &FIELD
Shenandoah 62, Alexandria 61
The Raiders pulled out a close one against the Tigers, winning by single point. Emily Eller captured both hurdles events to lead Shenandoah, winning the 100-meter event in 17.4 seconds and the 300 in 53.5.
Senior Bri Foster put in blue-ribbon efforts in the 800- and 3,200-meter runs in times of 2:35.5 and 14:50.2, respectively.
Lapel 76, Madison-Grant 70, Elwood 10
Freshman Leah Steele won the 100 hurdles (16.9 seconds), 300 hurdles (54.8) and 1600-meter run (7:02) to lead the Lady Bulldogs in a three-way meet at Elwood.
Also for Lapel, which is now 8-0 on the season, senior Kayla Skaggs placed first in the 3200 (15:46), Samantha Tarlton won the discus with a best of 881/2 feet and Lauren Turner’s jump of 4-10 was good enough to take the high jump competition.
Also for Lapel, junior Hillary Guion won the long jump (14-7 1/4) and the 1600 relay claimed first in a time of 4:37.

BASEBALL
Yorktown 12, Highland 2
The visiting Tigers lived up to their No. 3 ranking in Class 3A by routing the Scots.
A four-run first inning set the tone for Yorktown, which tacked on another run in the second frame, two more in the fourth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Highland (2-3) managed seven hits, including a 2-for-3 performance from Chase Freeman. Trevor Humes added a home run for the Scots and Carl Jarrett doubled.
Yorktown’s Cal Bowling was the largest thorn in Highland’s side with three hits and four RBIs. One of the hits was a homer. Nolan Hiestand came through with two hits and three RBIs.
Madison-Grant 15, Wabash 5
The host Argylls scored six runs through the first three innings and put the game away with a seven-run sixth inning.
Nathan Hiatt came through big for Madison-Grant (3-5) with three hits, including a home run. Teammates Zack Nolder went 3-for-4 and Shawn Smith was 2-for-4.
Daleville 17, Union 0
Broncos shortstop Zach Tumulty came through with four base knocks and nearly hit for the cycle with two doubles, a triple and homer.
Daleville (7-2) erupted for nine runs in the first and had plated all 17 runs through the opening three innings.

BOYS GOLF
Oak Hill 153, Madison-Grant 190
Three Argylls golfers broke 50 for nine holes, but it wasn’t enough as the Golden Eagles, led by meet medalist Zach Kinch’s 36, kept M-G winless on the season.
Low scores for the Argylls (0-5) belonged to Preston Poore (45), Tyler Small (46) and Isaac Gough (48). Also for M-G, Jarrod Draper had a 51 and Jacob Hobbs carded a 52.
Elwood 185, Liberty Christian 225
The Panthers’ Michael Melvin recorded a 43 at Cattails Golf Course to lead Elwood past the visiting Lions.
LC’s Alex Stinson had a 44 to lead his team, followed closely by the 45 of Evan Gibson. Other sub-50 scores for Elwood were Brian Bush with a 46, Blake Courtney’s 47 and Jacob Bourff’s 49.
Highland 163, Pendleton Hts. 168
Austin Stagman of Highland produced a 37 at Killbuck to lead the Scots past Pendleton Heights.
Trey Knight, Brandon Selig and Chris Thompson all shot 42s for Highland (2-1). Low scores for the Arabians belonged to Jake Groniger, Tyler White and Michael Maxwell, all with 41s.

ANDERSON UNIVERSITY
Softball
Defiance 1-1, Anderson 0-6
The Ravens split a doubleheader with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Defiance College at Raven Field.
In the first game, Gretchen Louzon took the loss, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out three and walking three. Erin Garrity led the Raven offense with three hits as the home team outhit the visitors 7-3.
In the second game, Kahley Barkes led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Chelsie Haines had two hits and Julia Siefring had two RBIs.
Kelly Thompson earned the victory on the mound, allowing two hits and no earned runs in seven innings while striking out six and walking five.
