The Anderson University baseball team lost a 20-12 slugfest against NCAA Div. I Ball State on Wednesday at Ball Diamond in Muncie.
Brad Lantz led the offense with three hits, three runs and four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the first to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead.
However, Ball State scored 16 runs in the next two innings, aided by six home runs to right field, where the wind was blowing out at nearly 20 mph.
Daniel Hiatt had a grand slam in the seventh inning and had five RBIs on the day while Stephen Jones had two hits and three runs, including a double. David Addington added a pair of doubles and Eric Smith a hit and three runs scored.
AU (10-7) travels to Cincinnati-Clermont on Saturday. The game will be carried live on the Internet at 1 p.m.

Baseball
Taylor 4, Frankton 3
Frankton came within an inning of picking up a win on the road to open the season, but the host Taylor Titans scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to come away with a 4-3 win in high school baseball action.
Eagles catcher Brandon France was 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple and a double to go with one RBI. Ben Knotts was 1-of-2 hitting with a run scored. Nick Justice and Tony Ferguson were both 1-for-3 at the bat with Justice driving in a run.
Frankton (0-1) plays at Marion at 5 p.m. next Wednesday.
Softball
Frankton 17, Elwood 1
The Frankton Eagles opened the 2008 campaign with a 17-1 drubbing of Elwood in a Central Indiana Conference contest.
Frankton led 4-1 going into the bottom of the third inning. The Eagles would put 10 runs across the plate in their half of the frame to make their three-run fourth inning academic.
Eagle freshman Karli Clark was 4-for-4 at the plate with eight RBIs. She hit a pair of home runs in the Eagles’ third inning and belted out two doubles.
Junior Lauren Hendricks was hit a pair of doubles in four appearances at the dish with an RBI. Sophomore Bre Shively was 3-for-3 on the day with a home run and four RBIs. Senior Lexi Seager had three hits in four at bats.
Frankton (1-0 and 1-0 CIC) will travel to Eastern today for a 6 p.m. start.
Tennis
Highland 5, Elwood 0
The Highland Scots got the season off to a winning start with a 5-0 victory over Elwood Wednesday night.
The Scots dropped one game in three singles matches as Alex Hammel, Mercy Scott and Abby Beard won their respective matches in straight sets.
The Scots doubles teams were also victorious in straight sets. The No. 1 doubles teams of Kelsey McFadden and Ashland Allison won their match 6-0, 6-0. The No. 2 team of Emily Jones and Alaina Coplin won their tilt 6-2, 6-3.
Highland (1-0) will host Muncie South on Tuesday, April 8, at 4:15 p.m.
