Anderson woman wins Super Bowl tickets

ANDERSON — Anderson resident Lindy Burgan has spent the last few days in Miami, Fla., soaking up the party atmosphere around Sunday’s Super Bowl and cheering on her hometown Indianapolis Colts.

For the big game, though, she had planned a quiet night in her Fort Lauderdale, Fla., hotel room, watching the competition between the Colts and the New Orleans Saints on TV with her boyfriend.

It was a contest featured during the Super Bowl festivities on Miami’s South Beach, though, that changed her plans. While checking out the OnStar system in a GMC truck at the event, Burgan was the unsuspecting winner of Super Bowl XLIV tickets.

“I pushed the OnStar button, and they came over and said congratulations, you are a winner for Super Bowl tickets,” Burgan said. “They’re opening up the doors, they’re yanking me out the door, they’re taking my picture. It’s just so surreal you cannot believe what’s happening.

“I’m walking away with two Super Bowl tickets. I am just amazed.”

Burgan, an employee at Myers Autoworld in Anderson, almost didn’t stand in the long line to check out the OnStar demonstration. But a nearby concert kept her entertained as she waited behind about 10 people for her chance.

Although she has never been to a Colts playoff game, Burgan said, she has been a fan of the team since it came to Indianapolis in 1984.

“I feel blessed to be able to attend the Super Bowl,” she said. “I’d sure like to see more Colts fans down here. There’s quite a few, but I’d sure like to see a lot more. The people we meet down here are all saying the same thing: The Colts are going to take it. They love (quarterback) Peyton Manning.”

Burgan and her boyfriend have spent their days in Miami decked out in Colts gear and toting a huge Colts flag to try and attract more fans.

“The big saying down here with the Saints is ‘Who dat?’,” Burgan said. “We’re going to show them ‘who dat’ is.”
