Red Tee Scramble set for today
The Red Tee Scramble will be at 1 p.m. today at Tri County Golf Club. There will be cash prizes, door prizes, hole prizes, drink specials, a cookout and bonfire to follow. Those interested can call (765) 533-4107 or sign up at the clubhouse. Teams will be chosen at noon.
Ruth/Ripken spots still available
The Anderson Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball League is still accepting players. The Cal Ripken (ages 4-12) opening day is May 13, and the Babe Ruth League (ages 13-18) will begin May 24. Fees are $70 per player or $170 for a family of three or more. Financing options are available. The Ripken League has acquired the ball diamonds on Madison Ave., next to the Soapbox Derby track. Basketball camps to take place in summer
Sports, Inc. in Anderson will have the 14th Annual Basketball Shooting Camp and the 14th Annual High Intensity Basketball Camp this summer. The shooting camp will be June 16-19, and the high intensity camp will be July 28-31. Players entering the second through fifth grades will attend from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Players entering the sixth through ninth grades will attend from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The cost is $55 per camp, with discounts for players from the same immediate family. AU to host basketball camp
The Anderson University basketball staff and players will conduct the Anderson University Basketball Camp from July 7 through 10. The morning session (9 a.m. to noon) is for girls and boys entering first through fourth grades, while the afternoon session (1 to 4 p.m.) is for girls entering the fifth through eighth grades. Campers receive a camp T-shirt, instructional materials, camper evaluation and player awards. The camp fee for each session is $65. Softball meeting scheduled for April 29
The Anderson Parks and Recreation Department will have a meeting for Men’s, Women’s and coed slow-pitch softball, as well as men’s industrial fast-pitch softball, at 7 p.m. April 29 at the park office, 101 E. MCGA Junior Golf Tour annouces schedule
The MCGA Junior Golf Tour has announced the 2008 summer schedule. As always, the Tour consists of stops at all nine Madison County Golf Clubs and Country Clubs. The Tour is open to all Madison County residents between the ages of 5 and 18, or any child or grandchild of a member of a local club. All area junior high school golfers and high school golfers are encouraged to compete. Entry forms will be available soon at all local golf courses. Entry fees are $8 per event and payable to the MCGA. The Tour will be highlighted with the annual year-ending Tour Championship with Player-of-the-Year awards given out to all age groups. NFL players to be at Muncie camp
Got Sports L.L.C. is having an NFL camp June 26-28 at the Muncie Sports Complex. Third- through fifth-graders will participate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while sixth- through ninth-graders will participate from 2 to 7 p.m. The cost is $125 for third- through fifth-graders, with a $50 deposit before May 15, and $150 for sixth- through ninth-graders, with a $75 deposit due before May 15. NFL players Tony Ugoh (Indianapolis Colts), Mike Coe (Colts), Keith Jackson (San Diego Chargers), Sam Olajubulu (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Darius Vincent (St. Louis Rams) and college player Cardius Dowell (Eastern Kentucky) are expected to attend. Golf outing scheduled for Tuesday
The Putt an End to Abuse Golf Outing, sponsored by the Madison County Federal Credit Union, is set for noon Tuesday at Killbuck Golf Club. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to noon, and dinner will be provided following the golf outing. The cost is $300 per team of four, or $75 per individual. Prizes are $500 for first place in the Florida Scramble event, with $300 for second place and $200 for third place. There will be a long drive competition for men and women. Men’s softball tournament scheduled in Muncie
The Muncie Sportsplex will be hosting the Fifth Annual BBQ Bash NSA Softball World Series Qualifier today and Sunday. Men’s B,C,D & E as well as Women’s divisions are available. AHS wrestling club starting
Anderson High School’s new wrestling club will meet Wednesdays through May 14. The club is open to wrestlers in grades K-12. Family Peach golf tournament slated
The Play for Family Peace Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 12 at Anderson Country Club. Cost is $125 per golfer and $500 per foursome. The fee includes golf, cart and a box lunch. Boys and Girls Club begins baseball leagues
The Wilson Boys and Girls Club is starting a new baseball league called RBI, which is sponsored by Major League Baseball. The league is an instructional baseball program encouraging involvement by children ages 12 and younger. The league uses a pitching machine to simulate and replace the human pitcher. This concept eliminates walks and much of the fear of being hit by a pitch. Coaches and volunteers are being sought, and registration is under way. For more information, call J.R. The Wilson Boys and Girls Club, along with Major League Baseball, is starting a free baseball league called Rookie League. Longhorns to hold tryouts

The Lapel Girls Softball League, a member of the Babe Ruth Softball Organization, is having late sign-ups for girls ages 8-14. The league’s goals are education, skill development, participation for players at all levels of athletic ability and to ensure the participants have fun. Brooklyn Little League still accepting players
Baseball and softball registration for the Brooklyn Little League are still being accepted. Boys ages 5-18 as of April 30 and girls ages 5-16 as of Dec. 31, 2007, are eligible. The cost is $55 for the first child, and $25 for each additional child, plus an additional $15 fee per child for late sign-ups. A copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency (gas or electric bill) is required. Boys and Girls Club looking for basketball players
Basketball players and coaches are wanted at the Wilson Boys and Girls Club. Boys and girls ages 5-10 and grades K-5 practice from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, and ages 14-18 and grades 9-12 practice on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. An annual membership fee of $10 is required to participate.
