Key dates: No school on Labor Day, Sept. 7; fall break, Oct. 22-23; Thanksgiving break, Nov. 26-27; Christmas break, Dec. 21-Jan. 3; Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 18 (unless makeup day is needed); Presidents Day, Feb. 15 (unless makeup day is needed); spring break, March 29-April 4; Last day of school, May 27.

What you need to know: Several schools have new principals. They are: Julie Morse at Anderson Elementary; Pat Cox at Eastside Elementary; Jennette Harris at Edgewood Elementary; Greg Kalisz at Forest Hills Elementary; Scott Merkel at Killbuck Elementary; Becky Bolaños at 29th Street Elementary; Les Souders at East Side Middle School; Patrick Fassnacht at Anderson High School and Lucinda McCord at Highland High School.

What’s new this year: Anderson Community Schools will provide bus service to all students within their school district. Because of school consolidation, bus routes have been revised so that there are no walk zones in the district, and every student will have a bus stop to their district school within a few blocks of their home ... The Ebbertt Education Center is now located in the Wigwam Complex. The ACS administration offices are now located at the former South Side Middle School on 29th Street.
