ANDERSON

Anderson Speedway returns to action tonight with the Night of Thrills taking center stage.

Featured events include the IOFS Outlaw Figure 8s, School Bus Figure 8s, Culver’s Trailer Race, IOFS Outlaw Figure 8s and Demolition Derby.

The International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) will compete at Anderson Speedway for the third and final time of the 2009 season.

The IOFS Front Wheel Drive division also will be on hand for its season-ending 20-lap feature event. Four special Grand Marshals: Mike St. John, Jim Fox, Herb Rose, and Art Cox will be on hand to participate in prerace festivities.

The IOFS season kicked off May 17 at Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville, Ky., before a near capacity crowd. Gary Bedell picked up that season opener. From there, the next five events were contested between Anderson and Plymouth Speedways with Casey White, Charlie Hargraves, and Eddie VanMeter claiming features at those two speedways.

The most recent event occurred September 18 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky., with Eddie VanMeter claiming his fourth IOFS event in a row. Doug Greig currently leads the points battle by 178 markers over second-place Chris Green.

In the IOFS Front Wheel Drive division, Rickie Tharp has a narrow 15-point lead over Nick Warner and Kentucky’s Tim Ralph. A champion will be crowned in both divisions at the conclusion of each feature event.

Exciting action also will be showcased by the School Bus Figure 8s, Culver’s Trailer Race and the return of the Demolition Derby.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with the racing beginning at 7. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children 5 and under get in free.
