ANDERSON — White River Christian Home Educators Junior Players will perform the comedy “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The play will be at Aletheia Fellowship and Ministry Center, 2505 Faith Drive in Anderson. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any cast member or at the door for $3 per person; children 2 and under are free.

Based on the classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, the play tells the story of the egotistical, pampered emperor who has taxed the kingdom of Glump to pay for his extravagant clothes.

The emperor and his family are so busy mismatching their wardrobe that the rest of the kingdom is in shambles. Enter two con artists who devise an ingenious plan for fleecing the emperor. Their pitch: a magic cloth that appears invisible to people unworthy of their position. Naturally, everyone chooses to “see” the magic cloth, until the innocent candor of a child “reveals all.”

The emperor, who appears before the kingdom in his long underwear, is shamed into reforming his leadership role in society, and his spoiled daughters learn a valuable lesson in humility.

The play is directed by Kaitlin Brogan, a 2006 homeschool graduate. The cast includes Madison Burnett, Autumn Boots, Carson Boots, Emma Campbell, Trey Campbell, Jacey Crawford, Jordan Crawford, Grace Fisher, Kailee Fradenburgh, Mariah Fradenburg, Kaitlyn Garman, Abbie Gernand, Kaitlyn Hale, Sarah Hale, Ellie Horn, Bradley Jensen, Savannah Lopez, Julia Maier, Andy Pape, Courtney Pape, Alex Walker and Emily Walker.

White River Christian Home Educators is a homeschool co-op that meets once a week for parent-led classes in Anderson.

Classes are offered for preschool through high school age students.
