Victoria Guild gets ready for Christmas Corner

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Victoria Guild is adding extra shopping time to its annual Christmas Corner holiday gift and decorating event.

The Corner will open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Saint John’s Medical Center Cafeteria dining room. A salad and soup supper will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for those with advance tickets. Tickets are available at the Victoria Guild Gift Shop and at the door for $6 per person. The meal consists of a choice of soup, tossed salad, bread, beverage and cookie.

Doors will reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday for the continuation of the Christmas Corner. The sale will end at 3 p.m.

Sharing leadership for the 2009 Christmas Corner are Connie McAvoy and Mary Ann Olson.

“The buyers have done a great job obtaining unique gift and versatile decorating items,” said McAvoy. “They travel to the premier gift and holiday merchandise shows in the Midwest to buy for our event.”

Nine unique shops will feature decorating ideas and gifts. There will be a wide selection of snowmen, angels, gingerbread men, toys, religious items and homemade floral arrangements. Sweet treats will be at the homemade bakery, which will feature breads, cookies, candies and other treats. There’s also a tasting booth and a booth featuring items for $10 and under. A raffle drawing will be held at the end of the event.

Tickets can be purchased from Victoria Guild members, in the Saint John’s Gift Shop and at the Christmas Corner. Raffle prizes are a $300 gift certificate to the Saint John’s Gift Shop donated by the Victoria Guild Council; sterling silver lady’s bracelet from Standt’s Fine Jewelry; lighted nativity set donated by the Christmas Corner Committee; a $150 Wal-Mart gift certificate donated by Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, and a Christmas silk flower arrangement donated by the Christmas Corner Committee.
