Gospel quartets — whether they’re from churches or put together for fun — are being invited to participate in the Gospel Quartet Competition set for Sept. 28.
However, groups must submit a cassette or CD of two songs by Monday. Groups can also make arrangements by calling one of the organizers, Sherri Contos, at (765) 620-0879.
The competition will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, 1124 Meridian St., Anderson.
A panel of judges will select finalist groups. The grand prize is three hours of studio time at Studio D in Summitville.
Groups can be men’s, women’s or mixed singing Southern gospel, contemporary Christian, a capella and even hip hop, among others, Contos said.
“We want to have some family-friendly programming,” she said. “My hope is that it will be a whole lot of fun.”
Groups will also be encouraged to bring fans or their church congregations to root them on, she said.
Submissions should be sent to the Paramount, P.O. Box 727, 1124 Meridian St. Anderson, IN 46016. Entrants need to also send a $20 entry fee.
