ALEXANDRIA — Candidates for queen of the Madison County 4-H Fair have been selected. All are Madison County residents. The pageant will be held Sunday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Building on the Madison County Fairgrounds in Alexandria.
The candidates are:
Abbey Amos
Age: 16
School: Lapel High School
4-H Club: Happy Helpers/Pendleton Livestock
Parents: Frank and Michele Amos, Anderson
4-H projects, activities and awards: Bicycle Rodeo; arts and crafts; foods; sewing; fashion revue; consumer clothing; beef; sheep; wood; showmanship; Junior Leaders; president of Happy Helpers 4-H Club; champion in all of the previous projects (except foods); showed first Tunis Ewe at the Indiana State Fair.
Other youth activities: At Lapel High School, I participate in varsity cheerleading, band, track and cross country. I’m a member of the Student Council (and secretary of FFA Livestock Judging), (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Lapel City Youth Commission, Eli Lilly Explorers and the Youth Leadership Academy of Madison County.
Hobbies: Hanging out with friends, spending weekends at Lake Wawasee, working with livestock and showing sheep at national shows.
Future plans: I would like to attend a small Christian college to study elementary education.
