The friends are five pastors who grew up in Anderson, all coming back together for the event running July 13 - 19. The presentations, open to the public, will be at Anderson Zion Baptist Church, 2008 Louise St.

The ministry, this year, is aimed at “Hope for Hard Times.”

“We are trying to bring about a sense of hope to the city of Anderson but particularly about the westside community, with high employ and foreclosures,” said the Rev. T.L. Wise, formerly of Anderson but now preaching near Dallas, Texas.

“We still believe Anderson is a great city and a great community. Sometimes you just need that message of hope,” said Wise. “God is still in control. Don’t lose hope.”

A revival will be nightly at 7 p.m. at the church, preceded by classes at 5:30 p.m.

Noon services are also set for those who cannot attend the evening sessions.

“This year we are adding a Noonday Service and a Youth Rally/Worship to enhance our efforts and message of H.O.P.E to the City of Anderson. We believe these programs and services will Help to Open People’s Eyes to the real issues and problems that affect their lives,” said Wise who presides over Trinity Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Wise, raised in Anderson, was a graduate of Highland High School.

Along with four other ministers, Wise set up MJR Ministries, named to honor well-known Anderson pastors, J.T. Menifee, Henry Johnson and Robert Rowes.

The group set up plans to hold a revival six years ago. The first was a successful reunion and the group has continued with its annual revival.

“We come together each year in commeration of former pastors that were leaders in the community who are already deceased,” said Wise.

This year’s events include:

• Symposium Classes from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. each evening

Monday: “Working Together: How to Handle a Conflict” with Rev. V. Brooks

Tuesday: “Faith, Family, and Forgiveness” with Pastor E.M. Woodall
