County music vocal coach Brett Manning’s got Rory Lee Feek to sing stronger with his partner/wife Joey Martin during last week’s country reality show, “Can You Duet.”
Feek did and the couple moved on in the competition. The show airs tonight at 8 p.m. on CMT.
Martin is an Alexandria native who sent The Herald Bulletin an email about the contest.
“It's a tough thing, singing harmony, if you're used to being a lead singer. For Rory and I, we only auditioned for this show, because someone said we would do well.  We really didn't expect to get this far. Rory and I are both strong lead singers and never thought of ourselves as an active duo, until this show came about.
She wrote, “When Brett asked Rory to sing harmony without me, I knew if I were put in that same position, I wouldn't have been able to do it. I think that's all the more reason Rory and I are bound to be together. We work well together, understand and think the same, and learn the same. We are so blessed to have remained together as a couple.”
