'Little Mermaid' on stage at Lee's

For The Herald Bulletin

“The Little Mermaid” will be on stage at Lee’s Theatre Friday through Sunday, May 4 to 6 and May 11 to 12. This musical escapade finds the captivating mermaid Anemone (Becca Wright) longing for life above the sea. Even though Anemone enjoys frolicking with her family and undersea friends, she must become human to marry Prince Theodore (Wesley Miller), her true love. The evil Sea Witch (Sammy Pancol) transforms Anemone’s fins into clumsy legs for the price of her angelic voice. Unable to speak or sing, Anemone ventures onto the land in an attempt to prove her love for the prince.

“The Little Mermaid” is the second in a series of four “No Child Turned Away Productions” at Lee’s. All actors and actresses are children ages 4 to 16 and every child who auditioned received a part.

The next “No Child Turned Away Production” registration is for “Wonderland!” an upbeat, hip-hopping version of “Alice in Wonderland,” which will be rehearsed and performed during Lee’s Theatrical Productions Summer Theatrical Camp. Registration for “Wonderland!” is June 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Show times for “The Little Mermaid” are 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children and available online at www.leestheater.com and at the box office located at 1426 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
