Virgil A. Smith

FORTVILLE — Virgil A. “Smitty” Smith, 76, of Fortville, died Aug. 20, 2007, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

He was born on June 28, 1931, in Indianapolis, the son of James Walter and Mary E. (Beadle) Smith. He retired from the Chrysler Corp., where he served as a tool trouble engineer.

He is survived by his wife, DeLores, whom he married in Indianapolis on Dec. 2, 1947; daughter, Marcy (Floyd) Hughes of Florence, Ariz.; daughter, Debbie (John) Anderson of Fortville; son, Randy (Bonnie) Smith of Mooresville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Indianapolis. 

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
