ALEXANDRIA — Dennis “Denny” E. Idlewine, 59, Alexandria, died surrounded by his loving family and friends on April 22, 2007, at his residence after a four-month battle with cancer.

ALEXANDRIA — Dennis “Denny” E. Idlewine, 59, Alexandria, died surrounded by his loving family and friends on April 22, 2007, at his residence after a four-month battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Elwood, the son of Francis Idlewine and Zaluma Idlewine, and resided outside of Orestes for 55 years.

Denny served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and drove the jeep for the Major General.

He retired from Delco Remy in 1996 after 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Arlene (Cormany) Idlewine of Alexandria; four daughters, Lori (Idlewine) Evans of Anderson, Andrea and Mike Confer of North Manchester, Sylvia and Mike Combs of Silver Lake, and Laura and Mike Leisure of North Manchester; three sons, Scott Idlewine of Alexandria, Allen and Renee Eads of Wabash, and Steven and Dayna Eads of North Manchester; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; mother, Zaluma Idlewine of Elwood; three brothers, Ronald Idlewine of Hobbs, Richard Idlewine of Alexandria and Larry Idlewine of Alexandria; one sister, Janice LaFamma of Marion; and a very special friend, Larry Simpson of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Idlewine; sister, Romana McGill; and a grandson, Todd Idlewine.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Clark and Pastor Doug Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5782 and Frankton American Legion will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the North Manchester American Legion.
