  • Video: Chesterfield council to meet, Kim Builta launches tour
    Today, the Chesterfield Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. today, it’s the first meeting since an audit from the State Board of Accounts was released, revealing that five town employees misappropriated $259,000. Kim Builta, who will challenge Terri Austin of Elwood for a seat in the Indiana House of Representatives, will launch a tour of the district from the Paramount Theatre Centre at 5 p.m. The Madison County Council will meet at 4 p.m.

    Today, Gov. Mitch Daniels will be in Pendleton to make two announcements. Anderson is expected to pass the final reading of its budget and will consider a resolution to appeal as a distressed unit for circuit breaker relief. Jay Ricker of Ricker Oil will be honored by the Boy Scouts and the editorial board at The Herald Bulletin will weigh in on the Dr. Phillip Foley situation.

    Today, Elwood will hold a meeting to discuss the County Option Income Tax (COIT) at 7 p.m. The Commission on Black Males will hold a meeting at the Geater Center at 6 p.m. to discuss education vs. incarceration. And an Oktobertfest celebration will draw attention to the Madison County Community Health Center’s northern branch at 1518 Main St. in Elwood, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

    The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project under way in the Miami County's Bunker Hill has drawn much attention. The project is being led by Anderson builder Hallmark Homes, co-founded by Anderson University graduate Derek Wilder. The show is not expected to air until January 2010. In the meantime, fans can follow the project's progress through a social media campaign at www.hallmarkhomes.com

    Today, Middletown’s Dr. Phillip Foley will appear before a State Medical Licensing board over accusations linking him to overdose deaths of patients. A cadre of supporters will rally at Foley’s office at 11 a.m. to escort him to Indianapolis. The Anderson Fire Department will fly flags at half-staff in tribute to Vader, the fire department dog that will be euthanized at age 14.

    Today, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will select a Central Indiana house to be demolished and rebuilt by Hallmark Homes of Anderson. The Anderson Federation of Teachers has filed a grievance over the Wigwam, calling it inadequate for special education students. And we will check on the status of the County Option Income Tax (COIT) now that it has been approved by Alexandria.
