ANDERSON — Anderson Public Library will join hundreds of libraries throughout the country on Saturday, Nov. 14, for the second annual celebration of National Gaming Day.

The library, 111 E. 12th St., will offer special gaming programs and events suitable for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Libraries are becoming family destinations, and are continuously offering new formats and innovative programs and services that educate, entertain and expand interaction with their users,” said Danielle Acton, information services librarian at Anderson Public Library.

“Gaming is yet another example of how libraries are becoming more than just educational resources for the communities that they serve. They are also places where users of all ages are welcome to have fun together.”

On Nov. 14, space will also be devoted to casual play of the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation2 and trading card games like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering.

There will be a Rock Band 2 tournament on Xbox 360 with prizes awarded to the top three bands, a Dungeons & Dragons workshop and game session, and part of the first floor computer lab will be reserved just for Internet gaming.

National Gaming Day @ your library is a national initiative supported by the American Library Association. For more information on the local activities visit www.andersonlibrary.net or call 641-2456.
