Craft Day to be held at library

The Frankton Library will have a free “Make & Take” craft day Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. Supplies will be provided. All children in the library system, ages 3 to 10, are invited to participate.

Urban League to give Spanish course

The Urban League of Madison County will offer a beginner-level Spanish-language course, starting Thursday. Elena Newson and Kendra Peters will teach the eight-week course, with sessions on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Upon completion of the beginner-level course, the Urban League will offer an eight-week intermediate course, followed by an eight-week advanced course. Cost for each is $30 per course and $90 for all three. The Urban League is located at 1210 W. 10th St., Anderson. Flu shots to be made available

MDM Home Health will be offering flu and pneumonia shots on the following dates at Pay Less Super Market pharmacies:

Thursday — 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Cross Street Pay Less; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Pay Less, Gene Maddy, 30th and Main streets; and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Gene Maddy Drive-Thru.

Friday — 7:30 to 9 a.m., Drive-Thru, Applewood Pay Less; and 9 a.m. to noon inside the Applewood Pay Less Pharmacy.

Shots are free to Medicare Part B recipients. All other flu shots are $30 and pneumonia shots are $45.

Clean out closets; keep others warm

Community Hospital Anderson needs the public’s help in its eighth annual Coats of Caring, an effort to collect winter coats for families in need. New or gently worn winter coats for adults and children, as well as new hats and mittens, are needed by Wednesday, Oct. 22. Donations can be taken to Community Anderson’s outpatient lobby, WQME 98.7, The Herald Bulletin or directly to be cleaned at Bestway Cleaner locations on Nichol Avenue or Scatterfield Road. Coats can also be dropped off at any branch of these banks: First Merchants Bank, KeyBank, MainSource Bank, National City Bank, Old National Bank and Star Financial Bank. Monetary donations will be used to purchase new items. Donations can be sent to the Community Hospital Anderson Foundation by calling (765) 298-5133.

Distribution will be Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Anderson Wigwam complex. Approximately 1,000 coats are given away each year at Coats of Caring. For more information on how you can help out with this event, visit CommunityAnderson.com/coats.
