Jamboree to include fishing contest for kids
The Country Bass Busters is sponsoring a Reel Kids fishing contest during the Markleville Jamboree. Dates and times are: July 30-Aug. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. The actual contest will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2, after the parade, and will last until the last young person completes the competition (or 4 p.m.). Age groups are: 8-11 and 12-15 (only). They will pitch, flip and cast from 10, 20 and 30 feet at target. There will be a winner from each age group for prizes. There is no charge for the event.
Festival organizers seek vendors and parade entries
Organizers of the annual Jefferson Township Community Days in Sulphur Springs have announced openings for vendor booths, parade entries and contestants for the Princess Pageant. The Princess contest is open to all girls and contestants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. To register for the pageant, contact Jeanne Vardaman at (765) 533-4195. The crowning for the 2008 Princess will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. The third annual car show will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16. Registration will be from 7 to 9 a.m. with awards being given out at noon. For more information contact Butch Gillock at (765) 521-4704. For information on other activities, call (765) 755-3511. All proceeds of this event go back into the Community Building. A more detailed agenda will be published at a later date.
