Big Wheels 500 race on Thursday
The Anderson Park and Recreation Department’s annual Big Wheels 500 will be held at Shadyside Park at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 10.
The Big Wheel 500 is open to children ages 3 to 6. Big Wheels will be provided.

Prospective students invited to cookout
Purdue University’s College of Technology at Anderson/Muncie is inviting area high school juniors and seniors and their parents to an informational cookout from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Anderson University Flagship Center, 2705 Enterprise Drive, off Interstate 69, Exit 22.
Jody Pierce, assistant location director in Anderson, said those attending will be able to learn about the various degree programs offered at the Anderson location, and enrollment officials will be on hand to answer questions or sign students up for courses.
The College of Technology’s Anderson location offers bachelor’s degrees in both industrial technology and organizational leadership and supervision, and associate’s degrees in computer and information technology, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision.
C. Indiana Powwow receives grant
The Indiana Humanities Council in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities has announced it has awarded a $2,000 Humanities Initiative Grant to Central Indiana Powwow Inc. in support of the Andersontown Powwow, an annual event celebrating the heritage and continued importance of the region’s first people.
The two-day event is held along the banks of the White River, near the site of Chief Anderson’s Delaware Indian village and features, among other events, storytelling and dance exhibitions by Chief Anderson’s descendants. This year’s Andersontown Powwow will be held on Sept. 6-7.
