AHS ’68 looking for classmates
The Anderson High School Class of 1968 is trying to locate classmates to send information about the 40-year class reunion. The reunion will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, at Hoosier Park and Saturday Sept. 27, at the Elks Lodge on Broadway. The mailings will be going out soon. Guide/Remy reunion Aug. 9
A Guide/Remy Employee Reunion is being planned for Saturday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Cooper’s Sport Bowl, 1920 E. 53rd St., Anderson. All former Guide and Remy employees, retirees and families are welcome. Cost is only $6 per person which includes bowling, shoe rental, snacks, door prizes and an evening of reminiscing with friends and co-workers.
Free clinical breast exams July 11
Community Hospital Anderson offers free clinical breast exams once a month for women in Madison County. Jeanne Kirk, R.N., breast health specialist, will perform the next exams from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the Women’s Center.
Clinical breast exams are different than mammograms, and should be done every three years in women ages 20-39, and every year for women over 40. All women over the age of 20 should perform self-breast exams monthly. Women over the age of 40 should have a screening mammogram once a year.
If abnormality is detected, the patient will be referred to her physician. The women without a physician will be referred to health care providers who are accepting new patients.
Register by calling (765) 298-5139. Upcoming dates for free clinical breast exams include Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12.
Lapel church set for benefit July 11
The Helping Hands Society of Ford Street United Methodist Church, 925 Ford St., Lapel, will host a Dan’s Fish and Tenderloin Fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Smith Hall gymnasium. The public is invited to come enjoy all-you-can-eat Dan’s fish and tenderloins, choice of two side dishes, desserts and fellowship as the Lapel Village Fair gets under way.
Adult tickets are $8, children ages 6-12 are $5 and children under 5 eat free with the purchase of an adult meal. For more information, call the church office at (765) 534-3314, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
M-G Class of 1998 reunion Aug. 16
The Madison-Grant High School Class of 1998 will hold its 10-year class reunion at noon on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Matter Park, Marion. A family picnic will be held at Shelter House 5 for all classmates and their families. Cost is $25 per person; kids eat free. Checks may be made payable to MGHS Class Reunion Fund and mailed to Sabra Moulton 6253 S. 762W, Rossville, IN 46065. An adult-only pre-reunion will be held the night before at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Icehouse in Marion. Pre-reunion meal not included in reunion cost. Red Hat Chicks set to meet July 16
The Pendleton Red Hat Chicks will meet at noon July 16 at Hoosier Park Casino. The group will take a tour of the casino and have lunch at the Harvest Buffet at 1 p.m. If you plan to attend, call Barbara Mercer at (765) 778-3868 by July 12.
