Boy Scout Troop to serve burgers
Boy Scout Troop 249 will have a hamburger fry at Harvest Market on Columbus Avenue from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Cost for a hamburger and soft drink will be $1.50. Money raised will be used to buy new tents and camping equipment. The troop is sponsored by Park Place Church of God.
Montgomery set as speaker Saturday
Grace and Truth Ministry will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 1010 W. Eighth St., Anderson (enter from the rear). The speaker will be Grace and Truth’s the Rev. Sharon Montgomery. She is the associate pastor at Arrow Street Church of God and is also a board member of Indiana Ministers of Church of God. All women are welcome to join in a time of worship and fellowship. Puppets to spread the word July 13
The One Way Street Puppet Ministry Performance Team will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Church of the Nazarene, 698 N. Fifth St., Middletown. This blacklight puppet presentation is titled “Glow in the Dark,” and features more than 35 puppets, including several large, life-size puppets, starring Neon Leon, the Toobie Brothers, Dooey Wardsworth and the Incredible Stretch-o-Bellies. The performance is for all ages and admission is free, with an offering to be accepted.
Community unity event planned
The United Methodist Churches of Lapel, Trinity UMC and Ford Street UMC are hosting a “Community Unity” gathering for members of the Lapel community and surrounding areas. Everyone is invited to come enjoy the fun, food, fellowship and fireworks display on Saturday, July 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. (fireworks to begin about 9 p.m. or dark) at the Trinity Life Center (corner of Indiana 13 and 38 approximately three miles south of Lapel). The event will feature free hamburgers and hot dogs with chips, cookie and beverage (freewill offerings to be accepted) along with activities and treats for the children, musical entertainment and a fireworks display all in celebration of this nation’s independence and the gift of community and fellowship. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and, if desired, your own tailgate picnic. If needed, shuttle service from parking areas will be available. Block party, bake sale on Saturday
A block party and bake sale will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 1512 N. Madison Ave., Anderson. There will be free food, fun and games.
Military vehicle show July 11-13
The 17th annual Salute to the Troops Military Vehicle Show and Swap Meet will be held July 11-13 at The Historical Military Armor Museum, 2330 Crystal St., Anderson. The event is being sponsored by the Indiana Military Vehicle Preservation Association. There will be displays of military vehicles, tanks, jeeps and trucks. Vehicle parts and military will be available for purchase. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 11 and 12 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13. General admission is $4 per day; $6 per weekend.
