Anderson Zion Baptist Church installs pastor
Anderson Zion Baptist Church Inc. will install the Rev. Terry D. Bush as pastor on Sunday. There will be two services for the celebration. The Rev. Bryant Steans, pastor of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, Ga., will preach at the 10:15 a.m. service and the Rev. Henry L. Johnson, III, pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio, will preach at 4 p.m. Bush is a native of Anderson. He has been married to Sister Linda (McClendon) Bush for 19 years. They have two children, Quincy L. Bush and LaQuincia L. Bush. He is a graduate of Anderson High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Metropolitan College of Theology, Satellite of the North Carolina College of Theology. He has also completed the studies for a master’s degree in biblical studies-theology.
Dinner will be served following morning service. Everyone is welcome.
Women’s Day celebrated
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 2318 Sheridan St., will celebrate its annual Women’s Day at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Sister Brenda Rowe will be the speaker. The theme will be “Women of Faith” Marks 5:34.
The public is invited to attend. Host pastor is S.I. Foard.
Vacation Bible School June 9-13
Frankton Christian Church will host Vacation Bible School June 9-13 from 1 to 3 p.m. with the closing program on June 15 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. This year’s theme is “God’s Big Playground,” focusing on service to others. For more information, call (765) 754-8660.
Phelps leads worship service at East Lynn
The Rev. Dean Phelps will lead the worship service at East Lynn Christian Church at 9:15 a.m. Sunday. He is the director of church multiplication with the Christian Church in Indiana. He and his wife, Debbie, reside in Southport. The music will be led by Roots and Branches, a musical group in which Dean plays guitar. The Rev. Susan Cameron is the pastor of East Lynn.
Memorial Day celebrated at Central Christian Church
Dr. Randy Frieling, music director, will be arranging for special music throughout the summer at Central Christian Church. This Sunday, baritone Pastor Rick Vale will be singing the anthem “Something Only He Knows.” The congregation will celebrate Memorial Day as well as begin a new sermon series, “The Bible: The Early Episodes.” This week, come listen to lessons from Genesis in the form of one of everyone’s favorite classic TV shows, “The Andy Griffith Show.” Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. at the corner of 10th and Jackson streets. Nurses’ Guild Service Sunday
