‘Chickens for Charity’ for lunch Thursday

“Chickens for Charity” will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the YMCA, 28 W. 12th St., Anderson. The menu will include barbecued chicken, two side dishes and a drink for $7. Quinn Buckner is Red Haven speaker

Quinn Buckner will be the guest speaker at the 40th annual Red Haven Memorial Award luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Days Inn in Anderson. The award will be presented at the Anderson Noon Exchange Club meeting. Buckner played at Indiana University and was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1976 NBA Draft. He had a 10-year NBA career playing for the Bucks, the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers. In addition to his playing career, Buckner was the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. Currently, Buckner is a color analyst for the Indiana Pacers cable television broadcast team. The Red Haven Memorial Award honors one high school senior from each of the eight Madison County High Schools for excellence in athletics, academics and citizenship. Liberty Christian School to hold blood drive

Liberty Christian School in conjunction with the Indiana Blood Center will be having an “Every Drop Counts” Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. The bloodmobile will be parked in the Hillcrest Campus parking lot located at 2025 Hillcrest Drive for anyone who has the opportunity to donate blood. Appointments are available through contacting the elementary office at (765) 644-7773. If calling after office hours, leave your information and an individual will call back to make the appointment. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

Wheel tax meeting May 22

The Geater Center of Anderson, 1611 Chase St., will host a meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 22, to discuss the proposed wheel tax for Madison County. All county elected officials and department heads are encouraged to attend.

Sale proceeds to benefit Tracy family

The second annual Byerly City Wide Rummage Sale is Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the open lot behind Byerly Storage units, 405 S. Park Ave., Alexandria, next to Beulah Park. A special booth has been set up for members of the Tracy family who lost their lives in a tragic fire two weeks ago in Alexandria. The community can donate items that can be sold during the rummage sale. All proceeds from the sale of the donated items will go toward the funeral expenses for the family. Pendleton Pet Parade Saturday

Pendleton Lions Club annual Pet Parade will be at 4 p.m. Saturday. The parade will line up at Pendleton post office and end up at Falls Park Shelter House. In case of severe rain all activities will begin and end at the shelter house. Prizes will be given in six categories: Best Indoor Pet, Best Pet Trick, Pet and Owner Lookalike, Best Dressed Pet, Best Decorated Pet, Best Decorated Wheels (bicycles, strollers, skate boards).
