Plaid & White Revue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday
The Highland Band Department will present its Plaid & White Revue Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the HHS gym. This show features the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab Band, Blues Band, Color Guard and the Pipes & Drums of Highland H.S.  General admission ticket in the balcony level are $3 and are available at the door.  
Mother’s Day Show at Mounds Mall
The fourth Mother’s Day Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Mounds Mall, 2109 S. Scatterfield Road, Anderson. Vendors will be on hand for moms of all ages with flower shops, arts and crafts, scrapbooking and others. Deadline Monday to enter Anderson Idol contest
Singing contestants are needed for the Anderson Idol competition, to be held Saturday, May 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at Pay Less Super Market, 31st and Meridian streets in Anderson. Entry forms are available at the customer service window and entry deadline is Monday. There is no entry fee and children age 13 through 12th grade are eligible to participate. Return entry form with an audition tape, CD, DVD or other recordable media. A committee will review entries and choose 12 finalist to compete on May 17. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place winners; all participants will receive prize bags. There will be a carnival at the market from noon to 3 p.m., with games and activities for kids. Refreshments will be available for purchase. This event is a partnership between Gateway Association Inc. and Pay Less Super Markets, in connection with Pay Less’ annual May “Tips for Tots” fundraiser, which is part of the Little 500 Festival. Events to mark Nursing Home Week
Community Northview Care Center, 1235 W. Cross St., will celebrate National Nursing Home Week beginning Sunday. Festivities on Mother’s Day include strawberry cake and ice cream at 3 p.m.; with Roy Carter (singer) at 4:30 p.m. On Monday, Western Day will be celebrated with ham and beans and cornbread; Shawn Hunt singing bluegrass will entertain at 2 p.m. The Jackman family will begin singing at 7 p.m. Picture Perfect Day will be held on Tuesday with glamour shots being taken at 2 p.m. 1950s Day will be held on Wednesday with ice cream floats; Nola will play the piano at 3:30 p.m. with Narrow Path (rock ’n’ roll) at 7 p.m. Thursday will be farm day. Hot dogs and chips will be served with Paddock’s farm animals coming to visit at 10 a.m. A picnic in the park with a cookout will be held on Friday. At 4 p.m. Gordon Brooks will entertain and at 4 p.m. the movie “From Here to Eternity” will be shown. Special bingo will be played on Saturday. For more information, call (765) 298-2540.
Red Hat Chicks to meet May 21
The Pendleton Red Hat Chicks will meet May 21 at the Pendleton First Methodist Church and then travel to the Back In Time Restaurant and greenhouse. The group will leave the church at 12:30 p.m. All members call Barbara Mercer at (765) 778-3868 by May 17 to confirm.
Book sale set for Saturday
The Friends of the Library book sale will be held Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the third floor bookstore of the Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St.
