Church events set for Mother’s Day

Glad Tidings Church will present a Mother’s Day celebration with the theme: “Growing in God’s Garden.” This two-day celebration begins Saturday with Lana’s Victorian Luncheon starting at 11:30 a.m. Beginning at 1 p.m., a style show has been planned. Guest speakers will be the mother/daughter team of Lana Moore and Brenda McIllwain. Pastor Jamey Moore has outlined a special Mother’s Day service for all the ladies at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Speakers for the service will be Pat Landes, Amber Myes, Sheron Hamilton, Hope Jerrils, Julayne Myers, April Phillips and Vicki Beaty. The church is located at 815 E. School St., Anderson. Allen Chapel women celebrate

The women of Allen Chapel AME Church, 1610 Sheridan St., will celebrate their annual Women’s Day weekend, May 17-18. Theme for the weekend is “A Celebration of Women — Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So.” Community educators JoDean Washington, executive director of community development for Anderson Community Schools, and Sherrie Boards, owner and director of Excel Learning Academy, will be honored at a luncheon from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Women’s Missionary Society and Black Nurses Association of Anderson will also sponsor a silent auction, health information sessions and blood pressure screenings. Tickets are $10. Cassaundra Patterson Day will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday. All Women’s Day activities will be held at the church. Mother’s Day service Sunday

Memorial Circle Wesleyan Church, 3232 W. 25th St., will host a special Mother’s Day service on Sunday. A breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m. prepared by the men of the church. Those in attendance are asked to bring their mother or grandmother or, if their mother or grandmother is deceased, special memories of them to share. At 10:30 a.m., the church will join in worship. Flowers will be available for the ladies in attendance. Pastor is the Rev. Clifton Ashlock.

Water In2 Wine in concert Sunday

Water In2 Wine will be singing at the Daybreak Community Church, 8284 W. 100N, Anderson, at the 10 a.m. Sunday service. Water In2 Wine is made up of Aaron and Jonathan Ashlock. They have produced three albums, and their latest release is “Just Look Ahead.” For more information, call (765) 534-3500.

Thulin Family at Madison Park

The Thulin family will perform during the 9 and 10:45 a.m. worship services Sunday, May 18. Born and raised in Sweden, the Thulin family has ministered throughout the United States and Europe with a strong testimony and music. The family has ministered with Carmen and the Gaithers and has recorded several family and solo albums with original material and well-known hymns and songs.Morgan and Helene Thulin are joined by two of their children, Jeanette and Jonathan, who are gifted worship leaders and gospel song writers with a strong call to reach today’s youth through both the music and powerful lyrics. Roger Gilliam to be ordained May 18

Roger D. Gilliam will receive an ordainment through North Carolina School of Theology at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Central Community Chapel, 1004 Indiana Ave. Dr. James E. Streeter and Pastor Richard Gregg will preside. A reception will follow the service.

Dixon, Providence Christian offer special service

Pastor James E. Dixon Sr. and his church, Providence Christian Church, will host a special service, with no admission charged and no offering collected service. This is simply a gathering for forgiving and healing. This special service is in response to the recent publicized failures of ministry in the city of Anderson. Join us for this special event at 7 p.m. Friday at 1610 Sheridan St., Anderson.
