VFW hosts pork chop dinner
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., Anderson, will host a broasted pork chop dinner from 4:40 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and salad will be served. Cost of the meal is $6.50.
Hamburger fry Friday at Parkview Church
There will be a hamburger fry at 6 p.m. Friday at Parkview Church of the Nazarene, 911 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and drinks will be served. Enjoy a softball game as you eat. This event is a fundraiser for a future Work and Witness mission trip.
Alex chamber hosts reception for Rubrechts
The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce will host an open house reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 116 W. Broadway, for Nancy and Bill Rubrecht, former owners of Broyles Furniture store.
The Rubrechts and the Broyles family were active in civic affairs of Alexandria while maintaining the furniture store for more than 100 years before closing in January 2007.
The reception is open to friends, family and the public.
Jackson speaker at bereavement ministry
Judy Jackson will be the speaker at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bereavement Support Ministry that meets at Bethany Christian Church, 1920 N. Rangeline Road, Anderson.
