Performances Friday night at store

Chesterfield church to host banquet

The Chesterfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 207 E. Plum St., has planned its annual mother-daughter event 6:30 p.m. Friday in the fellowship hall. Men of the church will serve the meal of baked stead, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, dessert and drinks. The banquet is called Babushka’s Garden. A Russian/Ukrainian presentation will be given by Mary Jackson, who will be dressed in authentic Ukrainian costume. Call the church office (765) 378-7896 to make reservations. Cost for adults is $7.50 and children under 12, $3.75.

Mother Daughter Banquet at Elwood

Elwood Bible Baptist Church will be holding its annual Mother Daughter Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday. There will be a nice meal, skits, games, sacred music, and door prizes donated by local businesses, organizers said. The speaker will be Megan Clark, a recent Bible College graduate from Fairhaven Baptist College and a member of Elwood Bible Baptist Church. Hamburgers, bake sale on Saturday

The Second Chance Baptist Church, 231 W. 10th St., Anderson, will conduct a bake sale and hamburger fry from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. In addition to baked items, hamburger and a soft drink will be sold for $1.50.

Iwo Jima survivor to speak in Elwood

Marion “Frank” Walker of Brownstown will speak on his World War II experience at the Battle of Iwo Jima at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elwood Public Library. He is one of the few living survivors of this battle. He spoke 80 times in 2007 in area schools and libraries. For more information, call (765) 552-5001.

Fairmount to host citywide rummage

Fairmount’s second townwide rummage will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. The event is being sponsored by Unity of Fairmount Extension Homemakers Club. Fliers listing sale locations and a map will be available at Driskill’s Market, One Stop and Village Pantry. For further information, call Brenda Hayes, (765) 948-5651.

Church to serve beef and noodles

The Ladies Group of Central Community Chapel, 1004 Indiana Ave., will host an all-you-can-eat beef noodles dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children.
