Community prayer service set for Thursday

Southern Heights Christian Church, 5401 S. Madison Ave., invites the public to a community prayer at 11 a.m. Thursday in observance of National Prayer Day.

Soroptimists invite prospective members

Soroptimist International of Anderson will have an introductory meeting for professional women interested in joining the service organization at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Hospital Education Building on North Madison Avenue.

If you would like to find out more about how you can support community service, develop personal growth, join in women helping women, rally against domestic violence, advocate for children’s issues, utilize your leadership abilities, promote and participate in international goodwill, affirm Soroptimists’ representation in the United Nations, and cultivate lifelong friendships, club members invite you to join them for this meeting.

Garden clinic scheduled this weekend

The Pendleton Garden Club Sidewalk Sale and Garden Clinic is set for Friday and Saturday. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the northeast corner of Pendleton Avenue and State Street (Indiana 38) in downtown Pendleton.  

Members of the club will be available to answer questions about gardening, flower arranging, plant care and how to become a Garden Club member.

The sale will feature fresh-baked goods to include fruit and nut pies, breads, cookies, homemade jams and jelly. Other items include bird houses, bird feeders, garden seeds and bulbs, perennial plants (daylilies, iris, daffodils), dried flowers and plant material for flower arranging, wreaths and many other garden-related items.

Donation of sale items from the public are greatly appreciated, organizers said. For more information, call (765) 778-4782 or (765) 778-3653.
