Author Carie set to visit book group
Indiana author Jamie Carie will visit the Christian book group at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday. She will discuss her book “Snow Angel,” a USA News book award winner. Her second novel, “The Duchess and The Dragon” (due out this month), is a passionate tale of love between a reckless duke and a serene Quaker woman. There will also be a book signing.
The discussion is open to the public.
Lanane, Reske at library Thursday
Madison County Triad will hear from state Sen. Tim Lanane and state Rep. Scott Reske at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Anderson Public Library.
The Triad meetings are open to the public and free of charge. The legislators will be reviewing this year’s General Assembly and what bills were passed.
Pentecostals finish new building
The Pentecostals of Anderson have completed their building project. There will be a dedication service at 7:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. David King of Defuniak Springs, Fla., speaking. Special singing will be by The Pentecostal’s Sanctuary choir directed by TJ St. Clair. Dan Mundy will lead the worship.
On Saturday, the doors will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a Community Day. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
This is an opportunity for anyone in the community to walk through the new facilities.
Speakers for Sunday services include the Rev. Jeff Brantley of Raleigh, N.C., at 10 a.m. and the Rev. David King at 6 p.m.

School holding Fine Arts Night
East Elementary (Pendleton) Faculty and Parents’ Club will hold Fine Arts Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The evening will feature the artistic, graphic and musical talents of East Elementary students. The fifth- and sixth-grade choir and the drama club will share songs from “High School Musical.” Some of the staff will sing a medley of songs from the ’50s. The evening will wrap up with East’s very own version of “American Idol,” with “Arabian Idol,” in which 15 student acts will entertain the audience with instrumental, singing and/or dancing talents.
