Arbor Fest to be held Saturday
Anderson Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate its 14th annual Earth Day-Arbor Fest Saturday at Shadyside Memorial Park on North Broadway in Anderson. Earth Day Arbor-Fest is a community-wide event. The goal is to educate the public about the importance of trees in our urban environment.

Meeting scheduled to discuss new FSSA system
If any reader, relative or friend has lost Medicaid benefits or food stamps or the new Indiana Family and Social Services Administration system is confusing, a meeting is set for 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the UAW Hall, 29th Street and Madison Ave., Anderson.
The meeting will be sponsored by Alliance for Retired Americans, Madison County TRIAD and United Senior Action. Those attending should bring applications and rejection notices.
Civil war group to meet Monday
The Madison County Historical Society Civil War Roundtable will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Madison County History Center, 15 W. 11th St.
Leland Franklin, from WHBU-AM 1240, will speak on his participation in Civil War re-enactments.
Benefit ride slated for May 17
Save the Madison County Humane Society Benefit Ride will be held on Saturday, May 17. The ride begins at the Madison County Humane Society (Crystal Street parking lot adjacent to the Humane Society) and ends at Wings Etc. Restaurant & Pub, 4776 S. Scatterfield Road.
Sign-in starts at 9 a.m., with the first bike out at 11:30 a.m. Tours will also be available of the Humane Society.
Cost is $15 per person and includes the ride, entertainment, prizes and food. The first 100 participants will receive a free T-shirt.
All proceeds will go to the Madison County Humane Society.
