CHESTERFIELD — A fire that fully engulfed a house early Saturday morning is under investigation, according to a news release.
The release said Chesterfield-Union Township Fire Department responded to a fire in the 500 block of Hampton Lane at about 4:30 a.m.
“Station 50 apparatus arrived to find a fully involved residence,” the release said. “An aggressive defensive attack was deployed to limit other residential exposures.”
Fire Chief Todd Rielage said arson was not suspected in the blaze.
Neighbors pulled a man from the house before the fire department arrived, according to the release.
The man was transported to Saint John’s Medical Center “with undisclosed injuries,” the release said. Rielage said he was told the man was later transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
There were no other people living in the house, Rielage said.
Adams Township Fire Department, Salem Township Fire Department, Rural Metro Ambulance Service and the Indiana Fire Marshal’s office assisted with the fire.
