12:13 a.m.: Character Counts march, block party Saturday

The public is invited to join Character Counts! of Madison County, the City of Anderson, and other community partners in an event in downtown Anderson on Saturday, beginning with a march from Athletic Park across the Eisenhower Bridge and to White River.
At White River, there will be a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting for the new blue pedestrian bridge at approximately 12:40 p.m. Participants will then cross the bridge to Edgewater Park for a block party featuring free food, music, guest appearances, fun and entertainment for all, organizers said in a press release.
Parking will be in Athletic Park. A shuttle between Athletic Park and Edgewater Park will be available. To march with Character Counts, arrive in Athletic Park prior to 11:30 a.m. Bridge dedication will take place at approximately 12:40 p.m. Events in Edgewater Park will continue until 3 p.m.
